I'm a Research Scientist at Persona Identities, where I build machine-learning systems to fight identity fraud. I built a embedding-based for ID images that enables detecting frauds at scale. I developed a diffusion model for selfie images to evaluate the performance, robustness, and biases of deepfake detectors.
Before joining industry, I spent a decade as a researcher at UCLA. I led a NASA-funded projects developing machine learning models predicting space weather. I led another NASA-funded and a NSF-funded project on spacecraft data analysis and numerical modeling of Earth's radiation belts.
I earned my Ph.D. in Space Physics from Peking University in 2015, with a visiting year at UCLA under Prof. Richard Thorne, and a B.S. in Applied Physics from Xi'an Jiaotong University.
Outside of research, I served on the board of Chinese-American Engineers and Scientists Association SoCal, chairing scholarship programs that support students in STEM and Art (2021-2026). I served as the vice president of Peking University Alumni Association Southern California, and the president of LA Hiking+U club.
